Reaching the world for Christ
Redemption and Healing
Redemption
means
to
buy
back
or
pay
the
ransom.
The
word
is
derived
from
a
Greek
word
apolutrosis
which
means
“to
buy
back
or
pay
the
ransom
in
full.”
Sin
came
by
the
fall
of
the
first
Adam
and
sin
brought
about
death
which
was
an
effect
of
the
fall
in
the
Garden
of
Eden.
(Romans
5:12,
Genesis
2:17)
Mans
redemption
was
meant
to
restore
him
to
the
original
state
before
his
fall,
although
this
is
to
be
complete
at
the
coming
of
the
Lord
Jesus
Christ
when
all
things
are
made
new,
man
still
has
access
to
certain
benefits
which
the
first
Adam
had
such
as
divine
health.
Man
lost
his
authority
when
he
fell
to
Satan
and
the
dominion
over
all
the
earth
which
was
given
unto
him
by
God.
Genesis
1:26-28,
psalm
8:1-9,
clearly
reveal
all
the
authority
which
was
bestowed
upon
him
at
the
time
of
creation.
When
man
fell,
he
lost
his
place
and
authority
and
so
hence
was
subject
to
Satan
and
his
oppression,
for
Satan
became
the
prince
of
this
world.
From
this
time
Satan
ruled
the
world
and
was
known
as
the
prince
of
this
world
or
the
God
of
this
world
as
we
see
in
John
12:31,
John
14:30,
John
16:11
and
2nd
Corinthians
4:4.
Christ
redeemed
man
from
the
effects
of
the
fall
of
which
sickness
was
a
part
of.
Christ
also
redeemed
man
from
the
curse
of
the
law
of
which
sickness
was
one
of
them.
Galatians
3:13
states
that
“Christ
hath
redeemed
us
from
the
curse
of
the
law,
being
made
a
curse
for
us:
for
it
is
written,
cursed
is
everyone
one
that
hangs
on
a
tree:”
When
we
study
the
book
of
Deuteronomy
we
have
an
understanding
of
what
exactly
the
curse
of
the
law
is.
In
Deuteronomy
chapter
twenty
eight,
we
see
a
list
of
the
curses
which
were
to
come
upon
the
children
because
of
disobedience.
Deuteronomy
28
verse
15
states
that
certain
curses
were
to
come
upon
the
children
of
Israel
when
they
did
not
obey
the
law.
Quite
a
number
of
these
were
curses
that
brought
about
sickness
and
disease.
Deuteronomy
28
verse
18,
22,
27,
28,
35,
59-62
all
speak
of
curses
of
sickness
and
disease which were to come upon man when he fell short of the mark of God or the standard of God.
Galatians
says
"we
have
been
redeemed"
or
the
price
has
been
paid
for
man’s
shortcomings
and
he
does
not
need
to
receive
the
penalty
for
his
offences.
We
have
been
redeemed
from
sickness
which
is
a
curse
of
the
law.
Another
aspect
of
man’s
salvation
which
is
important
to
note
is
that
redemption
was
not
only
made
for
man’s
spirit
but
for
his
body
also.
Psalm
103:1-3
declares
“bless
the
Lord,
oh
my
soul
and
all
that
is
within
me,
bless
his
holy
name.
Bless
the
Lord,
oh
my
soul
and
forget
not
all
his
benefits.
Who
forgiveth
all
tine
iniquities;
who
healeth
all
thine
diseases;
Forgiveness
of
sins
comes
hand
in
hand
with
healing.
God
dealt
not
only
with
the
issue
of
sin
on
the
cross
through
Christ
redemptive
work
but
also
dealt
with
the
healing
of
the
body.
Salvation
and
healing
come
hand
in
hand
and
cannot
be
separated
from
each
other.
When
we
look
at
the
work
for
which
Christ
came
to
do
in
Isaiah
61
we
see
that
he
came
to
give
liberty
to
the
captives.
We
can
see
from
scripture
that
sickness
is
also
known
as
captivity
as
seen
in
the
book
of
Job.
Job
42:
10
calls
jobs
sickness
as
captivity
and
Christ
came
to
set
us
free
from
captivity
which
sickness
is
a
form
of.
Also
we
can
see
from
the
book
of
Isaiah
chapter
53
that
healing
and
forgiveness
of
sins
are
both
part
of
Gods
plan
for
the
redemption
of
mankind
through
Christ.
Isaiah
53
declares
“but
he
was
wounded
for
our
transgressions,
he
was
bruised
for
our
iniquities:
the
chastisement
of
our
peace
was
upon
him;
and
with
his
stripes
we
are
healed.”
Healing
is
a
part
of
the
salvation
message.
Also
the
meaning
of
the
word
gospel
is
important
in
the
topic
of
redemption
and
healing.
The
word
gospel
is
derived
from
a
Greek
word
euaggelion
which
means
“a
good
message
or
good
news”.
To
the
sick
man
the
good
news
is
that
healing
is
available
for
him.
Christ
blood
was
shed
for
the
remission
of
sins,
while his body was broken and bruised that we may be healed.
